Dear all and our new friends
Recently I attended a series of panel on NGO and INGO. Besides the lectures, we were seperated into 10 teams with 5 people in each. Each team was assigned a project which should be presented in English on September 16. (It's actually more like a "proposal.") However, there isn't any specific instruction for the project. What we have is a paragraph which describs a suitation, and we'll have to focus on anything that we'd love to work on.
So, the following is the paragraph we got:
從二十世紀初開始出現的全球暖化現象，在二十世紀末期因為臭氧層破洞以及可能因為全球氣候變遷所造成的天災頻率與規模擴大，普遍引起關注。亞洲瀕臨海的各地區也因為各種水文氣象相關的災難，常忍受生命財產的損失。今年北韓越南以及南亞地區遭受大規模水患，如經過世界銀行等國際組織的調查與研究指出，普遍基礎建設的不足，以及政府使用國內資源與國際援助的對象與方式不恰當，是使南亞等發展中國家長年無法有效擺脫水患之苦的重要原因。如何提醒政府與國際開發救援組織正視此一問題，攸關開發中國家或地區人民生活福祉。請小組自我設定為與個別議題相關之NGO，針對上述狀況，草擬聲明或規畫行動，向政府或國際組織提出訴求或建議。
The global warming starting from early 20th century has woresen natural disasters and increased the frequency. Regions by the coasts in Asia have been encountering disasters related to hydrography over the years and suffering from loss of lives and properties. This year, North Korea, Vietnam and Southern Asia were damaged by serious floods, and according to the investigation by international organizations, such as World Bank, lack of basic constructions and inappropriate use of domestic resourses by local governments and aids from abroad are the key reasons for failing to get rid of floods over years. Please draft a proposal as a NGO to advocate and awake local governments and internaitonal organizations to face this problem.
Our team narrowed down to the economic aspect. We try to build an international NGO which developes a mechanism to slove problems mentioned- " lack of basic constructions, and inappropriate use of domestic resourse by local governments and aids from abroad." We serve as a medium like Global Fund. In short, we put together domestic and international enterprises and NGOs , and local governments together to carry out some projects in order to make progress under our supervision so that people benefit from appropriate projects directly.
Enterprises invest and profit, aids from NGOs are properly used, local people attain jobs and constructions. The keys are how we attract enterprise and how we monitor the process. We come up with some ideas, we should develope different projects according to the local resourses, for example, Indonesia is famouse for its agricultural products and tourism. An enterprise might be interested in marketing their seasonings or tourism. When we talk about basic constructions, enterprise could charge as local government use the highway they build. And localers could also find jobs under those projects. However, we should also make sure that those governments or NGOs who propose don't exchange some precious resourses like tropical rainforest in order to prosper. We will try to make the mechanism more detialed and sound more practical.
Well, I have to admit that those ideas are quite rough. And any comments and ideas are very welcomed. It's very interesting that NGOs need to deal with loacal victims, political issues and ethics at the some time. It's really complicated, but we all want to do that best and acheive something. Likewise, Taiwan has been under terrible international political situation, but we have been helping lots of friends around the world. I'm very proud of being a Taiwanese.

見習一星期有感

這一星期以來,去高醫見習,預先體驗一下醫院的生活,看了一些故事,讓我感觸良多
我在第二天就看到一位病人,明明不是很危急的情況,只要插管就能在繼續下去,可是家屬因為這位阿伯的病常常進出醫院,他們實在付不起醫藥費, 病人兒子哭的很難過,感謝醫護人員的幫忙,可是他們不能繼續下去,就只好忍痛送走他爸爸,我在一旁看了都差點流淚,大家最後也無奈的放棄治療......
隔天護理長說,這個病人的兒子很有骨氣,他家可以申請社工補助,可是他不願意,堅持醫藥費一定自己負擔,有時手頭緊欠個2,3000元,他就去做一些勞力工作,一拿到錢就付清,這次因為連下一個月的雨,沒辦法工作,加上家裡三個小孩開學要交註冊費,真的沒辦法,看著他難過的表情,真是很令人鼻酸,對照我要講的另一位病人,真是極大的反差
另一位病人他因為皮膚長紅點進來,因為他的小孩都是高醫校友,女婿也是高醫的醫師,他就認為自己是VIP,意見特別多因為不確定他的疾病,所以他要先住在單人房隔離怕傳染,他就一天到晚在叫,說啥很無聊阿,一步都不能出去,小孩上班沒空不能來陪我,你們一直拖,還不幫我檢查等等. 然而,為他安排了皮膚切片,要等三個工作天才有結果,他就在這三天裡耍脾氣,醫生來查房關心他的病情他都一臉不屑,好像全世界只有他一個病人,所有檢查立刻好,真的是奧客
在短短的這個禮拜,雖然知識上所學有限,可是很幸運的,我的住院醫師跟主治醫師的態度都很好,對病人很親切,關心他們也教了我不少東西,雖然在之前常聽說醫病關係很緊張,可是這星期看下來,並不會有這種感覺,醫師要放下身段,仔細的告知病患與其家屬病情與相關的處置,病患也體諒醫護人員的辛勞,所有醫護人員的努力都是為了讓病患身體狀況更好,唯有互相信任,才會有最好的治療效果

Welcome Bea, we are expecting you!!!
Hello Bea, my name is Mike. Since your boyfriend, Victor, is my best friend in the Columbia University, we always eat together, exercise together, drink together and talk about you together. A lot of “together” and I know you are coming “together”, which is the best "together" Victor and I have ever met.
We are so happy to hear your achievement, giving to you the most sincere congratulations! It is amazing to have a volunteer job in the United Nations. Working for your dream, for the public and for others’ need without payment is noble and meaningful. You make it. we will enjoy a lot of stories from you about your wonderful job. We are looking forward to them.
In addition, I would like to say thank you for your interest about our blog. Though it was written in Chinese, for your future visiting, I will encourage some of my friends to do it in English. The whole blog is wholeheartedly welcome to your browsing.
Well, let me introduce you to our friends in Taiwan.
In the photo below are Bea and Victor. Victor is my best friend in the CU and Bea is his wonderful girlfriend. Victor is friendly and smart, always willing to give others a hand. He had great work experience in NGO regarding the humanitarian assistance in Africa. It's worth respecting and inspiring to me. He is also very understanding, preventing me from drinking and caring about my health. I appreciate that very much. So often, he mentions Bea’s lovely stories and in order to company Victor, Bea had tried hard to apply for a job in NY and she made it. Now the story will go along by both Victor and Bea together. I believe Victor-Bea and Mike-Judy are the best couples in the CU and they will take care of each other. Congratulations!!
Bea, please see the photo2 and you can see number 1~4.
#1 is Miguel. He is also very hot in-mind but somehow cool out-side. He has a beautiful simles with low-tone voice. He talks little but each time he starts to say something, it never fails to be interesting.
#2 is Rocio. She is as considerate as my sister, even if I am trying hard to keep the secret of her age. Fine, she looks quiet young. She laughs loudly and I love it. I want to learn how to laugh like that. It could relax all of my nerves. Also, she is very nice and thoughtful, and she is my first friend in the US.
#3 is Belly. She is quiet good and nice to us. She is a princess and always behaves as a princess- it is so natural. Also, she talks in a slow pace when chatting to make sure all friends understand her. She calls me "younger brother" though I am older then her. I will keep reminding her not to smoke for her wholesomeness and "whole beauty" as well.
#4 is Lola. She is a great cook, just as your Victor. She always smiles, as if there is no misfortune in the world. It's her great personality and you know, she is also a humanitarian. She will study in NYC with repect to social welfare. She will be one of your best friends in minutes after you chat. She is, and we are, always willing to do a lovely favor to friends and the people in need. I think that is why God put you, you, you and me together!
(100% Of course, including all my best friends in Taiwan. I never forget you one second!!! Dear you are the foundation stones of my life's meaningfulness as well as my making new frineds. I love you too, and first!)
# the last but not the least, my dear cute lovely and beautiful wife, Judy! She is the star of my night and the sun of my day. She cooks everyday for me and especially for all my friends, without any complaint. She keeps the diary and account every night for my reference. She also company me wherever I go, even she is not so interested in some occasions. She is so understanding and tender. She comforts me when I am depressed and applauds me when I make a good presentation rehearsal. You know, I am so lucky to have Victor, Belly, Rocio, Miguel at the same time; and as all Taiwan friends know, I am unprecedentedly lucky to have Judy in my whole life. I can't wait to introduce Judy to you personally and it's also my fortune that my dear wife will have a new great frined, Bea.
What about Mike?? Haha, this guy is the author of this eassy and you know, it is a good idea to dicover him by yourself. Besides, I am all in the eassy, right!
Again, nice to see you, Bea, we are all expecting your company. Before we can look after each other in NY, please take good care of yourself and go to bed early, drink more water, eat more fruit, and the most important, have wonderful expectation in your mind.

哈，老哥，不好意思，因為剛從東京回來，那麼晚才來報到。
看來這個板上，有很多跟澤民共患難過的優秀學長姐，很高興能夠加入大家:)。
大家好，小弟是俊傑，現在台大電機系升大二。澤民是我國中時代的家教，也是我一輩子的兄弟。澤民有兩句話影響我好深:
「雖然我技不如人，但是我不服輸!」
「沒有天份，只有不為人知的努力!」
當年我如果沒有遇到他，我很可能無法那麼幸運地在台大唸書。
現在，我很努力地感染我的學弟妹，就像當年哥哥帶我一樣。
我也很飢渴地學習很多東西，想要早點跟上澤民的腳步，有一天我也要這麼有影響力和感染力!
看來這個板上，有很多跟澤民共患難過的優秀學長姐，很高興能夠加入大家:)。

謝謝你百忙中寫那麼多我們的故事，
我知道醫學系的課業是繁重的，這篇文章肯定花了你不少時間。
還有，經你這麼提醒，我倒想起我們一起在成大宿舍看漫畫和踢球的那禮拜，
記得你一還推薦我看XX充X(不知道順序)的棒球漫畫！
我能體會曹操<短歌行>這首詩：
青青子衿，悠悠我心，但為君故，沉吟至今。
這首本來就是寫給男生的，
雖然已不在是封建時代，也無賓主之分，
但是愛才惜才，進而愛友惜友之心，我想老哥是有過之而無不及。
我對你們可真的對老婆還細心唷！還記得我老婆總是貼心的陪我們到處跑，
因此，我也是少數人，會做到老婆會吃朋友的醋吧！(好在小詩很體貼 ^^，還有阿，我得早時間加班)
除了你，我也很高興侑正也回來了，
侑正和你一樣，也沒有好跟不好，
只是覺得近還能更近，稍微遠，我便覺得可惜了。
但是這幾年，就像對你一樣，

關於我提到的壞榜樣的故事,我在這跟大家分享一下
我在高中跟澤民認識的經過是很浪漫的一件事。當年我高一上體育課時忽然有一個穿實驗衣的人衝進球場,連踢三球中門柱,我當時覺得這個人好神,就去請教他如何踢球,他也很熱心的跟我分享。 而之後幾次體育課又碰到,就聊了起來,後來我常常在中午的時候跟老哥請教很多事情,他教了我許多,比方說一些想法,一些人生經驗,然而,最重要的,就是如何追女生啦^^….
高中畢業後,我因為考的不理想,去重考班蹲了一年,一年過後,我考上了我的目標,老哥也很高興,當年暑假我去成大跟老哥住了一星期,一起唸書,踢球,吃飯,看漫畫…當年我意氣風發,對自己很有信心,也對自己有很高的期許, 那時我在要開學前跟老哥去他家對面市場吃牛排,他提醒我上大學後要用功讀書,要常常保持聯絡
我當時就想沒問題,這有何困難。
大學開學後,因為醫學系大一大二都是通識課程,並沒有專業科目,我就整天泡在足球場,課幾乎都翹光,想當然爾,當年的承諾都拋在腦後……其實這段期間我一直有想到老哥,可是我覺得我實在很丟臉,一事無成,成績爛的要命,整個人像脫韁野馬,我真的沒有臉見他……..他期間有打電話跟我聯絡,可是我就很敷衍,迴避過去,我當時心想,上大三後我要好好念書,等我拿到好成績,我才會去見他
到了大三後,我退出我最愛的校隊,專心課業,也拿到了好成績,可是這時,我很怕老哥會不會不要我,我當年那麼冷淡對他,後來兩人完全失聯。這期間,我三年沒有去參加幼稚園畢業典禮,每年七月底,總是有一點落寞。
到了大四,有天忽然接到老哥電話,他考上了哥大!我很替他高興,他成功了!我们約好之後見面,老哥帶大嫂來台中吃喜酒,吃完後我們去中興踢球,剛開始有那麼一點陌生,畢竟好久沒見了,加上居然結婚了!過了一會,我們又回到以往的感覺,之後再碰面,聊的更開心了,我們就像當年高中一樣,學長對學弟的諄諄教晦,一起吃冰,聊天,享受一種無法形容的快樂
這個小故事,在這裡跟大家分享。我們每個人難免都有軟弱,失意的時候,這時,不要忘了根最親近,最要好的朋友聊聊,不要悶在心裡,好友永遠都在你身邊守候。
